Socialization

To ensure your new Labrador puppy will be content, mentally healthy, and able to adjust easily to new situations and environments, we are dedicated to carefully socializing our puppies. Rather than just casually socializing the puppies during their development, we choose to follow the Seven Steps to Socialization listed below. This ensures that each puppy has been exposed systematically to 49 various social situations while they are in our care. Detailed records are kept of each interaction that we include with each puppy in his or her Puppy Package. All of our Labrador Retriever puppies are family raised in our home, and as a result they experience human interaction, bonding, and socialization right from the very start.

Seven Steps to Socialization

By the time a puppy has completed his or her 7th week of life it should have:

- Climbed up steps, Introduced to cat, Run through play tunnel, entered a box,

ENVIRONMENT

The early environment of a puppy is absolutely critical. Because we breed only one or two litters per year, we are able to focus extensively on the puppies born in each litter and provide them with a very stimulating social environment. Here in Pittsburgh we provide plenty of play structures for our puppies that promote curiousity and exploration. Most Labrador Retriever puppies are naturally curious, and they thrive in a rich, personal, learning environment.

ENRICHMENT

The environment that a puppy is raised in is extremely important. A lively nurturing environment filled with enriching stimuli and experiences is best for any newborn's development, and it is no different when it comes to the Labrador Retriever. In our opinion a breeder simply cannot create a suitable enriching environment filled with human interaction when they are raising multiple litters at the same time. It takes much time and individual attention with the puppies in the litter to ensure that each specific pup has been enriched and is thriving in his or her early environment.

EDUCATION

Living is learning! At Kingridge Kennels we teach our puppies all about life by exposing them to many different unique situations in a very safe, positive manner. Starting during week 6 of their socialization the Labrador Retriever puppies are mature enough physically and emotionally to begin basic obedience training. They love to learn and are very responsive to early training... just like a child!

By implementing the Seven Steps of Socialization, along with

individual, personal, saturation in our rich learning environment, we feel that our socialization program better enables all of the pups to adjust to changes in their lives in the future, and it helps them remain calmer when challenged with all of life's inevitable changes.

At Kingridge Kennels our Labrador Retriever puppies are well prepared to leave their initial home here in Pittsburgh and acclimate to their new lives in various envioronments, and situations, anywhere throughout the world.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings

and crowned him with glory and honor.
